About this piece
An Amazigh weaver works at an upright loom, and the rug coming off it does not stop being a rug so much as admit what it always was. The woven bands become rock strata; the cream wool at the top edge becomes snow on the peaks. Her hands are still on the warp where the wool is still wool. Weavers in the Atlas have been putting the mountain into the pattern for a very long time without anybody calling it landscape.

Composed here, from a brief we wrote, in the manner of mid-century photomontage. Nothing in it is taken from anybody else’s collage — which is why we can sell it to you, and why it can be recoloured to your room without asking anyone’s permission.
