About this piece
A riad turns its back on the street: blank wall outside, everything inside. You push the door expecting a courtyard. The desert begins exactly at the doorframe, which is the joke and also roughly how it feels to leave Marrakech going south — the city stops all at once and there is nothing between you and the sand.
Made in our atelier
Composed here, from a brief we wrote, in the manner of mid-century photomontage. Nothing in it is taken from anybody else’s collage — which is why we can sell it to you, and why it can be recoloured to your room without asking anyone’s permission.
